Visions of Eight, David Wolper’s ambitious production devoted to the Games of the XX Olympiad Munich 1972, comprises eight segments by an impressive international array of directors, including established auteurs Milosˇ Forman, Arthur Penn, Claude Lelouch, and John Schlesinger. A terrorist attack by the Palestinian Black September Organization brutally overshadowed these Olympic Games and their remarkable athletic exploits. Eleven Israeli athletes and coaches and a West German police officer died at the hands of the group, five of whom were also killed.
